Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is a dental treatment for removing the infection from inside the tooth. It is carried out in the pulp of the tooth, which is the root canal. It involves three basic steps: firstly cleaning the root canal in which the dentist removes everything that is inside the root canal by creating a small access hole on the surface of the tooth with the help of local anesthesia; secondly filling the root canal that comprises of cleaning, shaping and decontaminating the hollow area using tiny files and irrigation solutions. Then, the tooth is filled with a rubber-like material, using an adhesive cement to seal the canals completely. Thirdly securing the treated tooth with help of a crown.
