Your treatment process does not begin when you receive your first aligner. It begins with a lot of planning and gathering of important details. Understanding the key stages will help you manage your expectations for the phases of your plan.

Phase I: Planning and Preparation
The treatment process begins with a detailed consultation. Your dentist/orthodontist will take 3D scans of your mouth, X-rays, and photographs. We will take this data and create a detailed digital treatment plan. You will actually be able to see the progression and movement of your teeth from beginning to end on a screen. Your plan will contain the exact number of aligners you will need. Attachments will be placed on certain teeth next. Attachments are small, tooth-colored bumps that allow the aligners to grip the teeth. Attachments are necessary for complex movements.

Phase II: The Aligner Stage
During this main phase of active treatment, the actual shifting happens. You will wear each set of clear aligners for one to two weeks as directed by your doctor. It is important that you wear your aligners at least 20 to 22 hours per day. Wearing the aligners consistently is key. You will then progress to the next tray in the series and each tray applies gentle, controlled pressure. You will typically see your dentist every four to six weeks for a quick check up to see how the process is progressing.

Phase III: Refinement and Retention
